In the work of the Artristas, humour and serious issues go hand in hand. At times, interpreting reality with irony and contradiction leads us to more honest answers.

In this workshop, the Artristas invite participants to become part of an improvised television studio for the new Shopping Santa Cruz channel. If you’ve always dreamed of being behind the scenes of a morning show, anchoring the news, or taking part in the most mind-blowing game show, this workshop is for you! Whether you’re more inclined to be behind the camera or to shine as a TV star!

Filming, sound recording, lighting, acting and set design are some of the tasks you can try out while unfolding the proposed narratives. No experience is required – just good spirits and teamwork.

Gonçalo (Braga, 1993), Joana (Ermesinde, 1994) and Miguel (Oliveira de Azeméis, 1994). By a twist of fate – both lucky and unlucky – three restless minds crossed paths in a kind of nuclear fusion. Brought together by various winds and tides, it was in the search for new horizons that they were born: Algarve, Vila do Conde, Amares and others yet to be reached. Without a given name, undefined and abandoned, they called themselves Artristas. Since the dawn of 2017, then as Fine Arts finalists, they have been seeking the other side – the impossible dream of erasure. They use video to paint reality with fiction, tragedy, humour and irony.
They formed Cubranco, a band that appeared before a stage at Primavera Sound, singing socially and politically relevant songs, in chorus or in hardcore pimba. They play badminton to stretch their ideas and always travel by hitching a ride in a white Opel Corsa, their spaceship, packed with adventures and bittersweet happy endings.
