Magical entitities and poetic narratives
workshop with Svenja Tiger
11, 12, 16 and 17 June18:00 - 21:00
Free / Registration needed
In her artistic practice, Svenja Tiger explores the boundaries between reality and fantasy, drawing inspiration from collective fiction and folklore. From these elements, she creates connections between opposites and dissolves the limits between beings, life and death, human and animal, terrestrial and cosmic.
For the Shopyard workshop, the artist invites participants to create magical entities and poetic narratives inspired by Santa Cruz Shopping Centre. Using textile transformation techniques, participants will develop forms and stories that inhabit an imaginary territory within the shopping centre.Svenja Tiger (Berlin, 1990), based in Porto since 2011, is a visual artist, costume designer, and performer. She graduated in Costume Design (ESMAE) and Fine Arts (FBAUP), exploring personal mythologies, fiction, and folklore, using textiles as painting to celebrate bodily transformations. She has presented works in exhibitions such as Admire the Predator when the Wild arrives (DENTRO, 2024) and Lucid Dreams of a Static Beast (MUPI Gallery, 2024), as well as being part of programs like Cultura em Expansão (2023) and Museu Como Performance (Serralves, 2023).
