Tour around Braga’s shopping centres
with Lucas Carneiro

Over the past few decades, first-generation shopping centres in Braga, Portugal, have served as spaces of opportunity for small businesses, services, and independent cultural projects. Between cafés, antique shops, nightclubs, haberdasheries, beauty salons, and rehearsal rooms for bands, these spaces absorbed and contributed to the development of a parallel urban history that the city's traditional streets and squares were unable to accommodate.

In order to uncover these layers of Braga, we have organised a day of programming for 9 November 2024, beginning with a tour designed and led by Braga-based architect Lucas Carneiro. This tour will traverse the first-generation shopping centres of Braga, where unique stories and personal memories will be revealed.
